About this role:

Reporting directly to the CEO and COO the Financial Controller will focus on accounting functions, financial reporting and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of a business. Part-time position, 3-4 days a week

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.

• Lead the finance team, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with financial laws and regulations.

• Provide strategic financial advice to support business growth and profitability, and identify and reduce risks.

• Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and best practices to optimise cash flow and mitigate risks.

• Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to guide decision-making.

• Ensure all accounts are reconciled before tax lodgement due dates and work closely with the external accountant to ensure all lodgements are up to date.

• Report directly to the executive team, compiling internal reports to provide insights on financial performance and business strategy.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining financial processes for efficiency and scalability.

• Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to financial reporting, budgeting accuracy, and cost management.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Commerce (required)

• Active CPA or CA membership

• 5+ years of experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.

• Strong expertise in Xero and advanced Excel skills.

• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning.

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a small finance team.

• A problem-solving and solutions-driven mindset, with a keen eye for detail.

• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a hands-on approach.
